Throwback Thursday … Nocturne Op.27 No.2

Previously I posted a blog about the recital performance of Yujia Wang. It makes me think of my favourite pianist – Evgeny Kissin! His performance is abso-fucking-lutely incredible! The speed, the subtle, the power and the devotion! What I admire the most is the way he interprets Chopin’s pieces.

This is my favourite pieces – Nocturne Op.27 No.2, the gracefully elegant pieces. The typical Chopin ornamentation made his songs unique and interesting. The irregular ornamentation is the added value part. Some pianists would made it clumsy or too even, which ruin the romantic and artistic essence.

To bring out the romantic and artistic spirit of Nocturne, the best way is to play it under a dim light on a showering day. Maybe, playing it in a cozy room in fall or winter is also another alternative.

So, how do you play the Chopin Nocturne?
